Peace and quiet or adventure - it’s your choice...
Senaru is located some 2 hours drive from the city of Mataram and the international airport. Its remote location makes it a peaceful and relatively tourism untouched area, save for the constant stream of adventurers willing to take on a climb of Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s second highest peak (3,700m).
Many people visit Senaru for the mountain climbing but if you’re not up for such physical activity or simply can’t afford the time don’t worry, there’s plenty more to do in this delightful rural location.
If you’re after a more sedate and certainly less strenuous time, Senaru simply offers peace and quiet. At The Horizon you can while away time absorbing the magnificent views, eating the best food on the mountain and just taking it easy.
Senaru offers some marvellous day walking trips or ‘soft trekking’ as the locals call it. A panorama walk around the surrounding terraced rice paddies is popular, as is a picnic at the two famous waterfalls, Sindang Gila and Tiu Kelep. At the waterfalls you can swim in the cool and fresh mountain spring water.
But if doing nothing is your thing, then The Horizon, Senaru is the perfect place for that too!
